DUMAMA IS
A future folk South African musician explores the complexities of generational trauma and transcendence in music. She uses sounds and words to process, protest and reimagine future folk. Dumama exits the colonial matrix using her music and chosen instruments uHadi, voice and guitar to do so. She incorporates electronics, voice distortion and glitches to explore the presence of industrialization in spiritual care/preservation she experiences in the collision of worlds. Her music seeks to find harmony and rhythm in the tensions.
